The theme for the Blog Hop is “Favourite Technique” I thought about this for a while as while I use lots of different techniques, misting, die cutting, stencils etc, I didn't think I had a favourite.
I was going through my layouts with my husband to see if he could help, when he said 'You put stuff on top of stuff a lot' so with those inspiring words, I made a layout focusing on layering!
I love ephemera, really it's the easiest, and laziest, way to make layers on your layouts. A few pretty die cut pieces, some foam pads, and you're almost done!
To fill in gaps I add puffy stickers, enamel flowers,
a few words cut out from a patterned paper and I was finished :)
I proudly showed my layout to my daughter, who was the beautiful focus of the photo, her response 'It looks like I have no legs.'
Well at least I like my layouts. ;)
Love the comments your husband and daughter made! Lovely page - I've been struggling with that kit but you've showed it off perfectly
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I'm a fan of layering as well 😊
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful LO; layers are great for texture, softening an edge and adding interest aren't they? A technique well worth investing the time in I think xx
ReplyDeleteFab layout! Love the little embellishment clusters :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this. I am a fan of layering x
ReplyDeleteGreat tip of foam pads on ephemera I would never if thought of this.
ReplyDeleteI am getting more confident with layering,
ReplyDeleteHaha I love this post...the technical term for your technique from your husband and the response of your daughter :) I am a sucker for embellishments too and have just started to do my first few layouts like this. Some great ideas here to keep me going thanks x
ReplyDeleteThis page certainly shows how effective adding embellishments together can add real interest to a page. I like to do this as well!
ReplyDeleteI love this look to layouts, A lot of mine are "Stuff on top of Stuff"
ReplyDeleteThat's one gorgeous page! I have book marked it for a scraplift :)
ReplyDeleteSusan x
I love layering stuff, only downside is very bulky albums 😁
ReplyDeleteOoooh just love this. My mind is spinning after reading all these hops with some fantastic ideas. Thanks for the inspiration. X.
ReplyDeleteLove your husband's explanation of layering! Sounds like something mine would say! I love layers. I sometimes don't feel like I get it right but I love the final effect. Need to use my puffy stickers more I think!
ReplyDeleteLove all the layering and your daughter's comment is so funny! xxx
ReplyDeleteBrilliant and a great way to use even more stash on one page. I love it 💜
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Love the title font/letters.
ReplyDeleteI love using ephemera, legs or no legs ;)
ReplyDeleteStuff on top of stuff sounds good to me! Great layout - even if your daughter was concerned at not having her legs visible!! Was sure I had visited your site before - then realised you took part in the scavenger hunt - now I know where I have met you. Well done.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.
Margaret
your husband sounds like mine, his usual comment is, "you going gluing and sticking again?"!!! love this page
ReplyDeleteHa! I love Mark's comment. My husband would be about as up on the technical terms! I do miss being able to layer up a whole bunch of stuff in a cluster. It just doesn't fit in the little pocket pages.
ReplyDeleteI love your layout and your husband's comments very technical thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHubby got it just right, - super layering. BJ
ReplyDeleteI like your LOs too! Ha! I love how you put stuff on top of stuff, and often try myself, but it doesn't come naturally to me. I think your greatest skill is not letting the photo's importance be hidden, and...knowing when to stop. HElluva skill, that!
ReplyDeleteLol, stuff on top of stuff, my husband says something similar 'you spend all day sticking card on card' lol they are so funny! A great technique and your layout is gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteYou are great at layering. I need to remember to add pop dots - they really add something
ReplyDeleteVery pretty layout. I used Flamingos recently and my kids said they liked my layout but "what have flamingos got to do with it!!" Very inspiring thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove all your layering! I'm not very good st using ephemera - I tend to hoard it!
ReplyDeleteFab layout and great definition from Mark! I'm trying to layer more, it's a great way of using stuff up and for adding lots a hidden details x
ReplyDeleteI am so rubbish at layering! Wish I found it as simple as you.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of layer upon layer of pretty stash Gemma! Your page is beautiful. TFS. X
ReplyDeleteYour husband's comment made me laugh. Mine says that I spend all my time gluing, sticking and cutting up pieces of paper to sprinkle on the floor! Love your layering
ReplyDeleteLaughed at the comments from your DH and DD! Such a pretty layout.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha stuff on top of stuff is the perfect description of layering! Great page
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, there's nothing quite like a bit of layering... the question is where does one stop? I love the layout and the story behind it - blokes do sometimes get it right, even if they're not familiar with the technical terms...
ReplyDeleteI love how you have used all your embellues. Gorgeous page.
ReplyDeleteLove the description of layering from your husband. Your layers are so pretty, it's something I need to work on.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty layout! I love the layer! I want to be able to do that too at some point. I think it's youtube tutorial time for me.
